Our writing this term will be based upon the book, Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. This a story about a young boy named Michael who sets off on a sailing adventure around the world with his parents and dog, Stella. During a terrible storm, Michael and Stella are swept off the boat and wash up on a desert island. They must learn to survive in their new home, but will they ever be found?
We will be writing a range of pieces, including: a narrative, a set of instructions and a non-chronological report.
Maths
During this term we will be covering a range of topics, including: properties of shapes, fractions, volume. We will be recapping some of our prior learning and applying our knowledge to practise solving multi-step problems.
We are continuing to use our Times Tables Rock Stars – please make sure you are practising regularly. We recommend at least 3 times a week.

Science
We will be focusing this term on 'Animals including Humans'. This topic focuses on the changes through a human's life-cycle. We will look at the different stages of development, including the growth of babies, changes during puberty and changes during old age.

Theme
Our theme topic this term has an exciting visit planned. We will be attending a school trip to Cardingmill Valley in the Long Mynd to complete field work for our topic 'Rivers'. We will be identifying the significant features of a river along the different points of its course, naming significant rivers of the UK and the world and reading maps.
Art
During our Art learning this half term we will be looking at different styles of 'Japanese Art'. We will be exploring and testing a range of skills including printing, calligraphy, origami and drawing, as well as focusing on famous Japanese artists and sculptures.
French
Our topic this term is 'Quel fait il temps?' - What is the weather like? We will be learning vocabulary to describe the different weather types, and learning how to describe the weather in different places using longer sentences and phrases.

Computing
We will be using Purple Mash this term to explore coding. We will be practising creating our own codes and debugging incorrect programmes.
PSHE
Our topic this half term is 'Aiming High'. We will be discussing the importance of working hard and having aspirations to prepare ourselves for the future. We will learn about different skills required for a range of different jobs and about how it is helpful to have a positive learning attitude.
