English
In our English lessons this term we will be basing our writing on the traditional narrative poem, ‘The Highwayman’ by Alfred Noyes.
We will be writing our own versions of poems based on the Highwayman, a narrative and a setting description.
Maths
In our Maths lessons this term we are covering a range of subjects, including long multiplication, fractions, place value and statistics.
We are continuing to use our Times Tables Rock Stars – please make sure you are practising regularly. We recommend at least 3 times a week.

Theme
Our Theme this term is a history based theme – ‘The Ancient Greeks’. We will be learning about when the Ancient Civilisation of Ancient Greece existed, making comparisons to our daily life and other time periods in history that we have learned about.
Science
Our Science topic this half term is ‘Earth and Space’. We will be learning about the planets in the solar system, about why we have day and night, and how the objects in the solar system move.

Music
Our Music lessons continue to be delivered on a Tuesday afternoon. We are learning to read tablature and notation, and play a range of music on our guitars. This will be taught by Mr Doherty.
P.E
Our P.E lessons this term will take place on Thursday and Friday. Thursday’s lesson will be taught by Miss McGuinness and Mr Withers, covering Target Games.
Friday’s lesson will be covered by Mrs Barker, covering Gymnastics.
RE
Our Theme this term is ”Temptation”. We will be learning about what other religions can teach us about temptation. We will be looking at the consequences and impact of our choices and how religions prevent ways to resist temptations, and relate this religious stories and Jesus’s own experience of temptation in the desert.
We will also be looking at ‘Salvation’ through the Easter story. We will be retelling and exploring the reasons behind Jesus’ death in detail, and what he did to save human beings.
French
This term we will be continuing our topic of ‘Clothes’, learning how to say what people are wearing, and beginning to use adjectives to describe colour. We have introduced the idea of masculine and feminine nouns. We will also begin to describe the Weather, and produce our own weather report in French.
Art and Design/Design Technology
The children will be designing and creating their own Clay vases inspired by Greek Sculpture. We will be analysing examples of Greek Vases and understanding their significance in helping us understand the Ancient Greek lifestyle. We will use these to inspire our own designs, and learn skills for moulding clay to create a 3D sculpture.
Computing
This term , the pupils will look at how to use simple Spreadsheets on Purple Mash. We will look at how to input simple formulas and search for information.
