Our text for the term is ‘The Butterfly Lion’ by Michael Morpurgo. This is a fantastic story about a special friendship between Bertie and his white lion.
We will be writing a variety of fiction and non-fiction text types this half term, including diary entry and a narrative.
Maths
This term we will be covering topics including fractions, measurement, perimeter and time. We will be focusing on practising multiplication and division facts for all times tables up to and including 12x12. Please ensure you are practising on TTRockstars regularly at home!

Electricty
In this super practical unit we will be getting our electricity kits out to build circuits in a variety of ways. We will cover:
- Electrical circuits including series circuits and complete circuits
- Electrical conductors and insulators
- The invention of electricity
- Components and investigating how they affect the circuit
Geography
Rainforests
We are transported around the world this topic to look at the wonderful world of rainforests. We will be studying:
- Where are rainforests located?
- What are the different climate zones of the world?
- What is a biome?
- What is the climate and life like in the Amazon rainforest?
- What is the Amazon rainforest important for trade?
- Why is the rainforest under threat?

This term we have the exciting new opportunity to play guitars. Please remember to bring your guitar to school on Thursday. Mr Bolton will introduce Year 4 to the strings on a guitar, and they will learn to play simple tunes, developing their understanding of rhythm.
