Vision and Values
Our School Vision
'Everyone who hears these things I say and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.'
Matthew 7:24
'We aim to give all in our care the best possible start for life; laying down the foundations they will need to build resilient and happy lives filled with hope and aspiration for the future. This is achieved within a safe, loving, Christian environment where all are encouraged to flourish both academically and spiritually.'
At Havergal C.E. Academy, worship is central to the life of school and is a platform for exploring the school's vision. Our school vision uses the parable of 'The Builders' as a metaphor: just as a wise builder lays strong foundations on rock, Havergal's foremost aim is to lay strong Christian, moral and educational foundations so that every child can build a life that is resilient, hopeful and flourish to be the best they can be.
School Values
Our school has a set of core Christian values that firmly link with our vision. The values support all children and adults in the school to live out our vision through their learning and relationships in school. Being a Church of England Academy we embrace the following Christian Values.
Christian Value | Vision Link | How does this value link to our school's Christian vision? |
---|---|---|
Hope | "lives filled with hope and aspiration for the future." | Hope helps children see beyond challenges, believe in their potential and aim high academically and spiritually. It gives purpose and motivation. |
Caring | "within a safe, loving, Christian environment." | Caring creates a nurturing family at Havergal where everyone feels safe, supported and valued. It models Christ's love in action. |
Joy | "resilient and happy lives." | Joy in learning and in relationships encourages children to thrive. It makes Havergal a place of celebration where children's gifts are recognised. |
Resilience | "laying down the foundations they will need to build resilient lives" | Like the wise man building on rock, resilience equips children to cope with setbacks and keep going, both in learning and in faith. |
Respect | "encouraged to flourish both academically and spiritually." | Respect for themselves, others and God ensures Havergal is where all can flourish. It underpins positive relationships and growth. |
Forgiveness | "safe, loving, Christian environment." | Forgiveness restores relationships, teaches humility and reflects Christian teaching. It allows pupils to move forward positively and grow. |
Our school values of hope, caring, joy, resilience, respect and forgiveness are not stand-alone words but are deeply rooted in our vision. They provide the firm foundations - like the wise builder's house on the rock - enabling every child to flourish academically and spiritually in a safe, loving Christian environment. These values are lived out daily in how we teach, learn and treat one another, ensuring that our vision is not just aspirational but actively experienced.
Here at Havergal, we are very proud of our values, Christian ethos, caring community, children and staff. Together we work hard to provide an exciting and interesting educational experience for all of our fantastic children.
