Church Links
Church of St Mary and St Luke
Havergal Cof E Primary Academy enjoys close links with the Church of St Mary and St Luke in Shareshill.
We often use the church to support learning by visiting for certain topics, such as exploring baptisms, weddings and the architecture.
We also hold our services in church for the main Christian celebrations, such as harvest, Christmas and Easter.
Members of the church community also support our learning within our academy. Revd Helen Duckett leads whole school worship once a fortnight and we also have visits from other church members when appropriate. Revd Helen and Elizabeth Smith are also members of our Local Academy Committee (LAC) who are responsible for holding leaders to account and supporting the academy.

STATEMENT REGARDING ST. MARY & ST. LUKE’S CHURCH
At the end of January, a meeting was held to discuss the future of St. Mary and St. Luke’s Church building. The meeting was attended by representatives from St. Mary and St. Luke’s Church, Lichfield Diocese, the local Parish Councils, Sir Gavin Williamson MP and other interested individuals.
At the meeting, it was agreed to pause the closure process to allow us to look at a new plan. The Parish Councillors and Parochial Church Council (PCC) will meet separately - the Parish Councils to draw up an action plan to look at resources and the PCC to identify three priorities for support from the Parish Councils. The Parish Councillors and the PCC will then meet together to work together to come up with a plan to try and enable the Church to remain open and to have a sustainable future.
